Hi, i have been signed off work for the past 3 weeks with a valid doc certificate, my team leader and a member of Hr came round to see me today as i am unable to get into work due to the amount of pain i am in,( have liver problems) well my boss gave me two choices i could either hand in my registration or go back to work as she needs me there, i am stuck as i feel i am unable to attend work just yet but know if i do leave there is no going back!.Even though she says she will give me my job back!!! do i have to choose one or the other or can i stay on the sick with valid doc note, and go back when i feel better!?/!?!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are laws to protect you!. She is probably just trying to scare you into going back to work!. It is her responsibility to get someone to cover your job duties!. I believe it is the Family Medical Leave Act that protects you!. Especially since you have a valid doctors note, you should be protected!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This really depends on which state you live in!.Yes I know this sounds ridiculous! I live in Florida and it is a right to work state, employers can fire you for almost any reason!. But if your employer fires you because you are out sick you might want to look into an attorney, as long as you are out with a valid reason (including your note) they can't just fire you!. Kinda like firing a women for being on Maternity Leave!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
