Sudden lightheadness?!

Question: Sudden lightheadness!?
During my last class today, I suddenly started to feel hot and sweat, even though it was cool in the room, then I started feeling really lightheaded, my hands started tingling, and my classmates told me I was white as a sheet!. And this was SUDDEN; I mean, 5 minutes before, aside from having cramps because I started my period today, I felt fine!. I went to the nurse's office, lay down for a bit, and drank some juice, then I felt a little better!. (I almost fainted in the hall on the way down!.) I feel ok when I'm just lying around, but when I get up or walk around, I feel so weak!. I'm a bit overweight but healthy, am not on any meds except Claritin, and ate lunch before this happened, so low blood sugar's not it!. I need to feel better by tomorrow so I can go on a trip!.!.!.any suggestions!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Firstly, if you ever feel dizzy the last thing you want to be doing is walking!. If you feel that you are getting dizzy, the best thing to do is sit down on the floor, wherever you are at, because syncope (fainting) causes severe head trauma in the majority of people who fall!. As for the dizziness, your period may explain why this is happening!. This problem could be anything from not enough iron, orthostatic hypotension (dizzy when you stand up) to diabetes (hyperglycemia) or even a vaso-vagal response (neurological)!. Just because you ate before does not exclude a possible problem with your blood sugar!. If your pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or if your body develops a tolerance to insulin (commonly seen in overweight patients) you can have glucose floating around in your blood but it cannot get into the cells where it is needed!. This can cause a light headed sensation!. There is no true way to know exactly what is going on unless you have a thorough medical history and blood workup completed by your primary condition!.

Good luck,

You could have diabetes since after drinking the juice you felt better!. You should have your Dr!. do a blood fasting diabetic test also it could be low iron!. You get feeling faint and weak when walking around and that is a sign of low iron or diabetes but there are other signs you don't mention so I would lean more to diabetes!. Make an appointment!. You can't eat for several hours before the blood fasting test but the results are accurate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It could have been because you started your period!. I know I often feel very weird like that the day my period starts!. It is a hormonal thing I am sure, but I don't have any idea why it happens!. I have had the same symptoms for many years, not every period, and sometimes they are more severe than others, but it does happen time and again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

usually i get lightheadedness whenever dey put me anesthesia!. if dey put u anethesia den dats the reasonWww@Answer-Health@Com

It could be a couple of things!. Starting your menstrual cycle is likely!. I get light-headed sometimes as well when I get mine!. You might want to check into anemia!. If you don't get a lot of iron (a lot of red meat), it's possible that your iron may be low!. Also, if you are slightly overweight, your blood pressure may be higher than some!. For people with higher blood pressure, standing up quickly often results in dizziness!. If you are feeling weak, go to the doctor!. He may take a blood test and find an iron deficiency or a sugar deficiency!. Just because you ate lunch doesn't mean you don't have low blood sugar!. Low blood sugar is a result of the body's incapability to produce insulin!. It doesn't really matter what you eat!. I am anemic and I take Miclizine for dizziness!. It really helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
