Ideas for falling asleep while having a cold?!

Question: Ideas for falling asleep while having a cold!?
I've had a cold for almost 2 weeks, and I'm at the end of it [feel fine, still have symptoms] now!.

I haven't been able to get much sleep for about three days though, and it seems like whats keeping me awake is this continuous cycle!.!.!.!.

I have a stuffed up/runny nose, so I have to keep blowing my nose and keep a tissue on my pillow!. This also makes it so I have to breathe through my mouth!. Breathing through my mouth agrivates my throat, and if I don't swallow tea constantly, it makes it very painful and I cough a lot!. I think this is what's keeping me awake!.

I tried sleeping with a cough drop in, but this hardly helped, and plus I felt compelled to get up and brush the slime off my teeth several times during the night!. It's just too nasty!.

I tried taking nyquil, but it didn't help anything except the runny nose and cough!. That was nice, but I still woke up every few minutes to drink tea because my throat hurt and my nose is clogged!

Also, I seriously can't stop sneezing! Ahh!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have quite a few things that can help you,USE caffin free tea,2 use vicks vapor rub , but i want you too do it a special way, put a little under your nose too help the clogged nose, then old trick put vicks vapor rub on a washrag, then go to your frigorater and get a little mustard put it on top of the vicks rub,it takes the soreness out of your chest, and get cover-up over the vicks patch!.And if you nose is really clogged or running go get in warm shower for at least 5 mintues untill theres lots of steam then ,stand in there 5 mintues ,no more problems with the nose!.I hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I found the "Breathe Right" strips worked for me when I had a hard time falling asleep with a cold or sinus infection!. I work two jobs so sleep is important to me and I slept like a baby with the strips on!. Mind you, it will take a while to fall asleep even with the strip on but you should not be bothered at all with the breathing or sniffling while sleeping!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

thereaflu for colds works so great and seriously i know this is gross but my aunt told me to do it, take a hot shower and breathe up the water and cough so you'll get all the nasty stuff out and keep you clear from the runny nose and the sore throat, it worked for me, lol!. also honey in tea soothes your throat so it wont burn as much!. theres also a tea they sell all all grocery stores in the tea isle for colds thats good too!. and lots of vitamin c! and water!Www@Answer-Health@Com

you'll find that the opposite side of your nose to the side you are sleeping on will clear!.

I like to take my own preparations for a cold (as distinct from purchasing those over the counter cold preparations!.)!.!.!.!.not that I have that many!. I must have had my last cold some 10or 15 years ago!. So here goes:
For the stuffiness!.!.take a Telfast!.!.Twice A Day tablet!. This is a non-drowsy anti-histamine medication!. I have as well the old fashioned anti-histamine preparations (e!.g!. Avomine!.!.!.Polaramine etc) These medications make you drowsy!. So what I do I take a 12 hourly old fashioned anti histamine medication (the "drowsy type) at night!.!.which makes me sleep and clear my stuffiness as well!.!.!.!.and then take the non drowsy Telfast (in the morning) around 12 hours later!. BE CAREFUL NOT TO TAKE THE TWO TOGETHER BY MISTAKE WHICH WILL BE AN OVERDOSE!.!.!.!.!. You can also drink alcohol (ONLY WITH THE TELFAST) with this medication(say a tot of brandy in tea with should you wish)!. For any pain or fever!.!.!.!.two 500MG Paracetemol tablets every four hours!. Take care not to exceed 8 tablets within 24 hours!. And rest!.!.!.!.!.as your body needs this to combat the virus!. For a sore throat!.!.gargle every 4 hours with warm water and salt!.
Now if you develop any breathlessness!.!.!.!.!.or your fever and/or your throat does not get better within say!.!.!.!.3 or 4 days!.!.!.it's time to see the doctor as you may have a bacterial infection which may need antibioticsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Vicks makes a nasal spray called Sinex that works wonders!. I have always hated anything that had to go up my nose but I was desperate for sleep(like you seem to be) and I gave this product a try!. Putting some Vicks Vapor rub under your nose and also putting some inside of your nostrils using a Q-tip works too!. Thera-Flu has Flu & Sore Throat that I use as well!. I usually put a peppermint in the TheraFlu once it is hot and mixed and that usually eases my throat ache, keeps my airways open and puts me to sleep right away!.

Hope one or all of these work and Get Well Soon!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
