Question: Is Methadone used to treat arthritis pain!?
I'm already on Ultram and I tried a Fentynal patch, but was allergic to it!.
I was just wondering if they will probably try to treat my pain with Methadone next, or if you have ever heard of someones arthritis pain being treated with Methadone and if so was it helpful!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Methadone can be used for pain management, but is usually reserved for drug addiction management!. Chronic pain is better managed with non narcotics and then a narcotic for occasional break through pain!.!. If ultram helps, add arthritis strength Tylenol per bottle instructions!. The two seem to work synergistically together and make people with arthritis more comfortable!. Physical exercise can actually be of great benefit in pain management, when done correctly!. Physical therapy or a YMCA arthritis program has shown great benefits for those who suffer with arthritis pain, which can be very disabling over time!. If your family doctor is not familiar with chronic pain management, then ask for a referral to a pain management specialist!.!.!.they are best trained to help you find comfort without addiction or sedation which compromises quality of life!. Hope this helps give you some direction!.
PS the allergy to fentanyl was more likely to the tape than fentanyl if it was local redness/itching where the patch was placed!.!.!.!.!.!.if you had hives all over, that is true allergy! I had been on the fentynal patch 125 only for 2 days because the patch caused severe rash after that!. The doctor at the pain control clinic suggested methadone and my doctor went crazy for it!. Started 2 months ago and so far I am in a living hell!. I have gone from 5 three times a day to 15 three times a day!. My pain is still severe and I was taken off all other narcotics within a week from starting methadone!. My doctors don't want to go any higher and I am frustrated and angry!. Doctors control my life and so far it is not fun!. The reason for the change was not because the medication I was taking wasn't working!. It was because of the regulations that doctor's don't want to do the paperwork required!. After being treated for arthritis for as long as I have the doctor's just get uncomfortable!. I have had arthritis for 40 years!. It started in childhood and has been progressive the older I get!. I do not believe that methadone works for everyone!. I f there are no other problems then don't fuss with the medications!. If you are having problems with pain control go for it and try the methadone!. Just remember any change takes time and I wish everyone the best of luck in their struggle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
