Question: If I stop taking Crestor w/ docs permission, how long until the muscle pain/weakness stops!?
I've been on in for almost 8 months and thought I could handle the muscle pain/weakness but it's getting too much to bear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Crestor is to treat High Cholesterol!. I assume you have returned to your Doc to have your Cholesterol measured to first find if you are on the correct dose!? Usually you see your Doc he takes a blood test, see you have High Cholesterol!. The first option is a low fat diet, loose weight and then you should return to see if you can control the Cholesterol through your diet and exercise!. If you cannot, then they usually ask about your Parents and Siblings and could be you have Hyperlipdemia which is a serious problem!. Then they will prescribe the Crestor and after a few months you need to return to for another blood test to see how you are getting on!. Could be your cholesterol has dropped, in which case they can reduce the Crestor, or put you on another Statin!. Sometimes they can remove you from the drug treatment!. However I would not advise 'anyone' to stop a prescribed treatment, without the permission of their Doctor, because you are risking heart attack, stroke, hardening of the arteries, the list goes on!.
