Hurt my back - what do I do now?!

Question: Hurt my back - what do I do now!?
About a week ago I was on my bike and the back wheel got clipped by a car, sending me spiraling into a telephone pole!.!.!. I didn't fall off my bike and while it did hurt at the time it didn't feel too bad, so I just sort of picked myself up and kept going - but ever since then my lower back has been killing me!. My mom recommended that I use a heating pad and just lay down a lot, which I've been doing, but it seems like it's getting worse instead of better!. Also, extra information: I'm 20 years old and have always had (very minor) back problems from carrying too heavy of a backpack around every day!

People have suggested everything from sleeping extra (which I'm already doing, but it doesn't seem to help) to exercising (I tried - it hurts too much!) to doing stretches (doesn't really seem to make a difference)!.!.!. any more suggestions for me!? Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Uh, you got hit by a car!.!.!. The persons insurance should be paying for it!. Did you talk to them and have them give you their info!? Well, you should see a chiropractor!. I broke my tail bone and jacked up my whole back and seeing a chiropractor helped significantly! Until then, lay on the GROUND and ice/heat it, alternating the two!. You probably squished a nerve, and if you lay on a bed it will only hurt it more!. So stay on the floor and relax!. Definitely see a chiropractor!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should go see a doctor & have x-rays run!.

If it isn't getting any better something could be seriously wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You really must see a doctor!. Anything is possible from a dislocated or injured disc (fractured, herniated, etc!.) to bad misalignment!. You may have torn or damaged small tendons or ligaments in a certain spot!. There's no way to know!. Exercise will eventually help you get back to normal, but it's important to identify the specific injury!. You're only 20; you don't want to be suffering from this injury chronically for years to come, which you may very well if it isn't handled now!. I'm 40 and fell at 15, causing sciatica (compression of the sciatic nerve in my back); I was off and on in enormous pain until my 20's when I finally got the right kind of help!. Moist heat will help and so will anti-inflammatories (advil, aleve--but follow recommendations and don't mix them hoping for better relief)!. But you MUST see a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
