Why do pain management doctors send their patients to psychiatrists?!

Question: Why do pain management doctors send their patients to psychiatrists!?
Answers:
Chronic pain (which is the only reason you SHOULD be at a pain clinic) and depression go hand in hand!. I don't know anyone nor do I think I will ever meet anyone that has lived with pain day in and day out and not be depressed!. I don't like to hurt for one minute and then most of these people hurt just about every minute, everyday, every week, every month, every year!. Yeah, that is definitely depressing! So most of the time, that is the reason, although there are others!.

Sometimes, people's depression has led to their pain!. Thereby, fixing (if possible) their depression, you can fix their pain!. People who have become so depressed that they won't get out of their bed for weeks, months, etc!., are certainly going to have pain in their backs or arms, legs just from not using them if nothing else!. So fixing the reason they are depressed may help them get back into the routine of leaving the house/exercising/working, etc!.

Then sometimes they send the pain clinic patients to the psychiatrist because they no longer have a need for the prescription pain meds, but have developed not only a physical addiction, but also a mental dependency on them and need the help of psychiatrist to get off the pills!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Chronic pain can bring about depression!. Too many medical professionals think it is all in your head, anyway!. And, some of the antidepressants can actually help with certain kinds of pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
