Answers:
Swelling of the lymps indicates some kind of offending material in your body's blood and fluid system!. If the ankle injury is a "closed injury", meaning that the skin was not broken, no bleeding, bacterial exposure etc!. that it does not involve infection!.

If the injury was extensive enough to cause moderate internal bleeding or fluid leak from the joints (is it swollen!? did you put ice on the injury side and elavated your leg!? which all helps to keep the damage as minimal as possible), the blood cells that were busy fixing the side, are now 'dead' and trapped for 'disposal' in the lymph node!.

Unless you have a 3rd degree sprain (which might need surgical correction) there is very little a doc can do!. In the beginning of the injury you need to keep the side cool (to decrease swelling), rest, elavated etc!. It will get worse before it gets better, if you're not sure what to do or can't put any weight on the side, go see a health care providerWww@Answer-Health@Com
