If you have had the following symptoms, this means a fracture has occurred- pain, swelling, discoloration, heat and warmth, limited ability to move, and deformity!. The only way to know for sure if a fracture occurred, would be to have an x-ray done!. If you haven't already, you can apply ice for 15-20 min each hour for the first one to two days!. You can also use any over the counter medication to relieve pain!. You would also need to elevate the foot for both a toe and foot fracture!. For a toe fracture, the broken toe and the adjacent one would be taped together!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like it is broken but there isn't much a doctor can do for you!. My son dropped a can of Bush's Baked Beans on my foot two weeks ago and it broke my big toe!.

Of course, I wasted a $20 co-pay going to see the doctor!. I basically got the" ice, aspirin, and call me if it gets worse" speech from him as he said there was little else that needed to be done!. But, as much as it hurt the first two days, it really didn't bother me too bad!.

Good luck and happy healing!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What do you mean your toe nail is "fed up"!?
Generally, if the toe looks straight, doesn't have any open cut on it, even if you did break it, as long as it is not your big toe, what you can usually do is called "buddy tape it!."
This means that to support it, you put something between the broken toe and the one next to it, so that the skin of the two toes is not directly in contact (like cut a piece of gauze and wrap it between the two toes); then tape the two toes together so that the good one provides a sort of splint for the broken one!.
If there are any distortions in the toe, like you might have dislocated it, or have a break that is not straight, or if you have cuts on it, then you better get it checked out by a doctor!. Also if you break your big toe, you should get it checked out by a doctor!.
(The reason BTW that it is important in buddy taping to put something in between the two toes is that, if you don't, the areas of skin that are in direct contact can get what's called "macerated" - they get sweaty and then bad things happen to the skin!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com
