Sore Neck from Doing Situps! Am I doing something wrong, or do I have to get use!

Question: Sore Neck from Doing Situps! Am I doing something wrong, or do I have to get use to it!?
I did a # of various situps yesterday (Crunches, Twist Up, Push Through, Left Side Crunch, Right Side Crunch, Up and Twist, Leg Raise, Leg Tuck) to name a few, and I had my neck raised for almost all of those!. Should I be lifting up my neck at all when doing various situps!? My guess is if I do lift my neck up, I put both of my hands behind me head to support my head!? Yea so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or will I eventually get use to the sore neck and It'll be 2nd nature!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You should never have a sore neck so your technique is wrong! What tends to happen is with 'lead' with the chin! We are on the floor and the first part to take off, the chin! You are trying to work your body too hard and too fast without learning how to 'isolate' the muscle groups concerned!. That means first thing you have to do is learn how to isolate the core muscles, or tummy corset!. Called core muscles as they are responsible for holding the 'spine' in correct alignment!. Exercise is akin to Ballet! In other words a Ballerina would not do 80 circuits of the stage in under ten seconds, because that is running and they do not run, they perform, they are elongated and they glide, however they are twenty times fitter than you! You can get more exercise out of one small 'precise' and 'controlled' crunch, than 50 uncontrolled super man speed crunches!. Those who do the super man speed exercises end up with sore necks and muscles, while those who first learn the correct technique, learn how to isolate the muscle groups, walk away to fight another day with no hurting!.

You shouldn't have a sore neck!. Putting your hands behind your head is a good idea, but the point of having your neck raised is to work your upper abdomen!. So lift from your stomach and your shoulders should also be off the ground!. You should have enough space between your neck and chest to put an apple!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should NOT have a sore neck!.

You are using incorrect form!.

Put your hands behind your head, but keep your neck/head straight with your torso!. Do not let your head/neck move while going through your motions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
