Question: Do Adam's Apples break!?
A couple weeks ago my son (3!.5 years old) punched me in the throat while we were playing around!. It gave me pause at the time, but I didn't think much of it!. Since that time though I've had 3 or 4 occasions where I'll be talking and suddenly it will feel like I have a chicken bone poking my throat, and I have to stop talking!. I can't say more than about three words before the same thing happens, but it goes away within a minute, and then I'm fine for days before the next episode!.

The hyoid bone is NOT your Adam's apple!. You can't even feel your hyoid unless you're looking for it!. One think he could have done is screwed up your thyroid cartilage, though!.!.!. Realize that if it were really crushed, you'd have started bleeding into your lungs; that said, you really should go to an ENT and get your larynx looked at with a scope!. My guess is that he could have messed up a nerve and it's causing your vocal cords to spasm and cause you pain!.

I would also say yes! The hyoid is a tricky little bone that doesn't have any bones around it to help support it!.!.!. just a bunch of stringy muscles!. It's meant to protect your trachea and esophagus, so it's very important to know if it's broken or if something else is going on!.
