Answers:
Most of the time they tend to stick to the same route and they get to know it!. Here we have 'Tactile Paving' so they can feel the bumps in the paving to allow them to know where they are and that guides them to the crossing point!. Some use canes, some use guide dogs, depending on the degree of visual loss!. Few years I went to a Conference where a female with genetic visual problems was giving a talk!. No cane, no dog, but cannot drive, can see shadows and that is all!. Anyway she was half way through the talk on helping other people in the Third World, when she started to explain how difficult it was for her to get to the Conference on time and she would need to leave early!. Likewise, how her Parents reacted when they found out that both their daughters were going blind!. She then said 'Do not worry, my Sister is worse than me but she was able to land the Helicopter on the roof, so I would not have to drive!' The room fell silent except for my robust laughter! Then she said 'Glad one of you was paying attention!' For sighted people it is hard for us to comprehend blindness, so we lump it all together and 'assume' it is akin to walking around with our eyes tightly closed!.
