Question: Is tanning safe if i check for melanomas!?
Someone told me that a doctor told them that tanning is totally safe as long as you always check for melanomas and if get them removed right away if you find one!.!.!.
it sounds reasonable, does anyone know anything on the subject!?

It sounds reasonable but it isn't correct!.
The issue with melanoma is that this isn't a superficial skin cancer - these can be very deep and fatal!. Even a small one can have spread to other parts of the body!. So by the time you see it, it could already be very serious!. And they don't just remove them - it is fairly intricate surgery - they slice off a layer of skin over and over until they get to the bottom of the cancer (which can be disfiguring) AND they biopsy the nearest lymph node to see if it hasn't spread!.
In addition, if you have had one melanoma you are at risk for others!.
Prevention is much better - do not use a tanning bed - they give up to 10-20x the UV rays as the sun!. If you are going to sunbathe - always use sunscreen!. Do a monthly check of your skin (including areas not exposed to the sun)!.
Try tanning lotion instead!. You can still get a little color and protect yourself from skin cancer and premature aging (all those liver spots on older people are signs of sun exposure, including a lot of wrinkles)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not that it's safe!. It's safer!. Most people that tan, don't regularly check their skin so by the time that they notice a difference, it's bad!. You can still get skin cancer and just because you get a melanoma removed doesn't mean the cancer is gone!. Just wait until the sun comes out and wear sunblockWww@Answer-Health@Com
I aways thought that prevention was better than a cure, rather than tan yourself till you get cancer and have to get them removed, why not not tan in the first place!.
Melanomas are a sign you are overdoing it big time, so don't get to that stage, just deal without a tan!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
