Which would be in my best interest?!
Question: Which would be in my best interest!?
I have a pretty bad wound on the front of my calf (Cut myself shaving REALLY bad)
its been maybe two weeks!.
I put a new bandage on it every morning and when I get home from school I just put shorts on and wrap it up so it can breath better!.
I have really sensitive skin and the bandages have started to give me new wounds when I take them off!. (not nearly as bad as my main one but still)
So my final question: Would it be better for me to just leave it open (even though it has not scabbed over) from now on even when I have long pants on that could rub against it or should I keep bandaging it!?
Any other suggestions are helpful as well!.
Thanks for your help ^_^Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
sound like you are getting either a latex reaction (bandaids are made with latex) or an adhesive reaction!. The easiest thing to do is leave it open and let it scab but it may scar then!. The other option is to use a guaze pad and some guaze and apply tape to the guaze!.
Another option is to use this stuff called New Skin and brush it on and let dry!. It creates an artificial layer of skin and helps it heal faster!. One word of warning though!. It BURNS very badly for about 30 seconds to a minute so be prepared to blow on itWww@Answer-Health@Com

Keep it covered when you are awake, and keep bandage off when you sleep!. Two weeks is a long time for it to be not healing!. I would probably go to the doctor and get it cultured to see if it is growing anything!. Go to the pharmacy and get a dressing called Telpha, and then wrap it with stretch gauze!. Telpha pads will not stick to the wound!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
try a non stick pad, then wrap it with gauze and tape the gauze to it's self hopefully this will help!. I know they also make a gauze that sticks to it's self, sorry I don't know the name but I would venture to guess you can find it at any drug store or pharmacy!.
Take care hope you get better soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com
