If so how bad is the pain afterward and how long is the recovery time, because the doc says I have to do it but if it is going to be a nitemare I may just suffer it out ( i am already 47 )i really dont want to go through with it if it won't helpWww@Answer-Health@Com

The pain after the surgery is not bad,
I had 4 fusion in cervical!. I wore a collar for 8 weeks!.
I used cadaver bone and have a metal plate!.
Be sure to get several opinions!

it really depends on what procedure they do!. are you getting a bone graft or metal plates!?
my husband had 2 fusions w/ bone!. he wore a collar for about 6-8 weeks!.
you need to find out if other than having neck pain, what the fusion is for- do you have numbness or weakness in the hand or arm!? that can become permanent if not treated & you can lose function!.
you're 47, but can you live in pain or w/o using your arm for 30 more years!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
