Sleep problems...how much sleep do I need?? tired even on awaking?!

Question: Sleep problems!.!.!.how much sleep do I need!?!? tired even on awaking!?
I sleep for around 9 hours every night and I go to sleep around 10:00!. But I'm still very tired in the morning!. I can hardly drag myself out of bed!. And the worst problem is that I am almost continuously yawning the whole day!. And I feel like I've not slept at all, when I get up in the morning!.
How long should I sleep for!?!? btw, I'm a teen!. And it's not nice to be like 'Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn!' every where I go and that too everyday!. And I have no trouble falling asleep at night; the problem is waking up!. Please don't write the usual 'how-to-fall-asleep' tips like playing soft music, or reducing the light in the room or setting the AC to a comfortable temperature!. That's not what I have trouble with!.
Please help me!.
(If it makes a difference, I take multivitamins and exercise everyday!. And I drink 2 litres of water a day)
Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would suggest you talk to your parents and have them take you for a sleep test!. Its painless!. You just go to the sleep disorders center and a tech will attach a bunch of wires and sensors to you with glue, past or tape!. (no needles)!. It could be sleep apnea which can be caused by being overweight or by tonsils that are too large and need to be removed or simply by a narrow airway!. Sleep apnea is a breathing disorders that occurs during sleep where you stop breathing for short periods of time over and over again all night long!. Each time you do this your brain kicks in and will either wake you up completely or kick you back into a lighter stage of sleep repeatedly all night!. There are five stages to go through but with sleep apnea you may never get past stage 2!. Therefore your sleepiness would be caused by sleep deprivation caused by the apnea!. Or it could be Periodic limb movment disorder (leg jerks)!. This wakes you up or keeps you in lighter stages just like sleep apnea does!. Or it could be narcolepsy!. People with narcolepsy are sleepy all day, everyday and some but not all fall asleep involuntarily!. Some people think that just because there sleepy all the time that they are narcoleptic but there is an actual test for this too where you would spend the day in the sleep lab!. Every two hours you would take a short nap!. You will be given 20 minutes to fall asleep and if you do you get 15 minutes to sleep!. The test is to see how fast you go into REM sleep(stage 5)!. It takes a normal person 90-120 minutes but a person with narcolepsy only takes 15 minutes or less!. If you go into REM in under 15 minutes on at least 2 out of 5 naps then you will probably be diagnosed with narcolepsy!. If you were an adult I would agree that you may be sleeping to much but as a teenager I seriously doubt that is the problem!. You need more sleep as a teenager!.

Okay you say your not overweight and there is no problem with your tonsils!. Unless a doctor has looked at your throat you would not know if large tonsils are causing sleep apnea!. Also your airway maybe finewhen your awake but relax too much when you fall asleep causing apnea!. And remember sleep apnea occurs when you are asleep you cannot feel it when you are awake!. Most people who have sleep apnea have no idea they even have a problem at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You may be sleeping too much!. Why don't you try to sleep for varying hours to see if it helps!. Maybe go to bed later but get up at the same time!. I used to feel groggy after sleeping more than I really needed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
