Epididymitis?!

Question: Epididymitis!?
I have had epididymitis for a long time now!. Around a year or so!. The pain was never that bad until a couple of times when it really hurt!. I went to a urologist to get it checked out!. He gave me a prescription of Diclofenac and Ciprofloxacn!. I've been taking these for about a week and a half and I am still getting minor pains from the epididymitis and the infected testical just feels uncomfotable a lot of the time when I'm just chillin!. Also I have gotten a scrotal ultrasound to make sure there wasn't any tumors and it came out fine!. My question is how long does it take to cure this and does it require surgery if it doesn't go away with antibiotics!?!?!? Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Epididymitis is a condition in which the epididymis becomes inflamed!. This condition may be mildly to very painful!. Antibiotics may be needed to control just a component of infection!.

If you are not feeling better with antibiotics then ask your doctor about "cord block" procedure!. In this process you will be given an injection into the nerve that traces along the epididymis!. This single injection consists of several medications including a steroid, pain killers, and a high dose of an anti-inflammatory!. This treatment usually quells the pain for 2-3 months in ideal conditions while the fortunate ones in rare occasions are never bothered again!. This procedure would of course have to be repeated when necessary, until the problem goes away completely, or until the routine is simply too bothersome!. In that case, a patient may then decide to have the epididymis completely removed, thus rendering all pain obsolete!.

i hope this answers your query and please award the points alsoWww@Answer-Health@Com

If you take the antibiotics completely and according to prescription the epididymitis should go in 10 days!. YOu can put ice packs on it for 20min intervals for pain relief and to take down swelling!. If it doesn't improve then call the urologist and he can arrange IV antibiotics!. Surgery isn't usually called for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My husband has this but when he takes the medication when he has a flair up, it always goes away!. Just do what the doctor tells you and keep him informed on the progress!. If it doesn't clear up with the first round of antibiotics you might have to have a second round!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
