How do I stop playing with, running fingers through, and pulling my hair?!


Question: How do I stop playing with, running fingers through, and pulling my hair!?
Basically, I can't stop running my fingers through, touching, and pulling hair!. I've tried everything I can think of, but still nothing seems to work!. I've noticed that the hair on the crown (top part) of my head is thinning because of this!. I'm 16 years old, and my hair is thinning! GAHHHHHHH! Any tips!? I don't have OCD or anything, but it might be stress related!. I go to a school that lodes me up with homework every night, etc!.!.!. so that might be a contributing factor, but I cant be sure!. When you find that you want to play with your hair, find something else to distract yourself!. Keep something with you that you can play with like a stress ball, play dough, silly putty, etc!. Habits are hard break but you need to be conscious of what your doing!. Also, keep a little notebook of the time and what you were feeling when you wanted to play with your hair!. That way you can find triggers and hopefully avoid them!. Find someone to talk to about the stress your feeling!. Think of a reward that you could buy for yourself for not playing with your hair for a certain amount of time, such as after a week buy some really nice shampoo and conditioner that you wouldn't normally buy or maybe a new hair accessory that you like!. Then after a month maybe treat yourself to a nice salon for a new cut!.

You can do it! We all have habits we don't like but make your self aware of what's causing it and you'll over come it!.

well you see many of us come through this problem,try ask your parents to buy you something which you like!. I mean till your hair
doesn't look more thin you will soon get used to it and you wont need the thing(ie!.which you like) for that !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have a disease called Trichotillomannia!. Please reseach this before anything else!. It can be serious!. I dont know much about it but hope this helps

Only advice I can give you is to eat healthy!.!.!.buy a book called natural perscriptions!.!.!. great book!. Research vitamins you think you need and take them!. Also eat very healthy organic foods and substitute reg bread for wheat and grain breads!. Eat fruits and veg!. and protein!. Drink alot of water and green tea!. This might not be the answer you are looking for but a healthy diet will eliminate your stress so this may be a start!. Than get biotin a vitamin for your hair!. Dont dye it!. Let it grow natural and take care of it!. Love it!. Instead of pulling it, get it in your head that you want to take care of your hair and make it a long term goal to have gorgeous healthy hair!.
