If you have been cleared by your orthopedist for playing football try these things until you can get with a physical therapist who will specifically design a program for you!. Remember that you have to be cleared by your orthopedist before starting these!. If you have access to a pool then start in there!. One is doing side leg lifts or kicks!. In the water all movements are isokinetic and that simply means as much pressure as you apply to the movement there will be an equal pressure applied back to you!. That is why you have to be cleared by the doctor!. Do the kicks with each leg as the hip abductors have to stabilize and thereby do an equal amount of work as the active leg!. Do ten of these and then do knee raises or running in place!. This is done by actively bringing up the knee as well as pushing it down!. Do this for one minute working up to five!. If there is a cutout in the pool sit there!. With the knee bent to 90 degrees rotate the leg inwards and then outwards ten times!. Switch legs and do the same movement with the opposite leg!. If there are no problems with those movements try running in waist high water!. Sprints in this level of water work the entire leg and hip very effectively!. As you get stronger move to midcalf level of water and run there!. If there is no problem with any of these movements go to the gym!. My best suggestion for you is to get cleared by the doctor and have him refer you to a physical therapist!. The therapist will design a specific program for you working to establish a better balance between the muscle groups to prevent the injury from occurring again!. Also they will show you the proper way to stretch the hip and body as that is also very important!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm assuming that you had an Orthopedic Surgeon manage your case!. He is the first person I would ask!. He would not recommend anything that would undo his work!. And he could refer you to an appropriate sports medicine physical therapist, or give your coach specific guidelines for your conditioning drills!. The avulsion fracture should be completely healed by now, but you will still want to get back into physical condition gradually!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
