Sprained my ankle yesterday?!

Question: Sprained my ankle yesterday!?

The pain was reducing, and I better, then I started walking on it and it hurt more! I elevated it and everything, but nothing seems to work!. The pain is still there, and I either have to hop on one foot, or just limp for 3 steps and then start hopping again!. What should I do! i was thinking of the doctor's but then we'd have to make an appointment and wouldnt get one forever!.!.!.

Answers:
First keep it elevated and put ice on it for fifteen to twenty minutes out of an hour!. Occassionally place the ankle in a large basin of water filled with ice!. This will reduce pain and swelling further!. While in the water attempt to write the alphabet with the front of the foot!. If there is any pain in doing so stop!. Resume that only when there is little or no pain!. I suggest that you be seen in the emergency room if there is no reduction of pain and dyfunction by tomorrow!. It sounds as if you have a sprained ankle at a grade 2 but hopefully a 1!. You may also go to a pharmacy or medical supply house and get an air-cast!. Place this on the ankle and it should help you with walking!. If while the air-cast is on you still are in strong pain get off the ankle and seek medical attention!. If you are diagnosed with a grade 1 sprain then eventually the pain will leave and doing some strengthening exercises should help prevent this from occurring again!. Sit with the ankles crossed and push the outsides of each foot against each other for a few seconds!. Do that about five times and then put the inside edge of your feet together and push against them for a few seconds!. This will help to increase the strength of the ankle allowing a faster recovery!. Again if there is pain stop!. If you have a grade 2 or above then you will need physical therapy to work on strengthening and proprioception movements(getting a feel for where the joint is when moving)!. If you don't do these then the ankle will be suspect for future reoccurrances!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
