Should I re-break my finger?!

Question: Should I re-break my finger!?
I broke my right ring finger playing football 8 months ago and my doctor told me to refrain from surgery because it wasn't necessary : The growth plate was still open in my finger and would straighten the finger out withen a month of healing!. It's now 8 months later and my finger is a little over 10 degrees crooked towards the left!. It may not seem like much but my basketball shot is entirely off now and I was considering college basketball!. Should I have surgery to rebreak it and get a pin placed in it or is it not worth it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Get seen by an orthopedic surgeon who is a hand specialist!. It may be too late, but there is a possibility that with aggressive care by an occupational therapist you may be able to regain normal function!.

Surgery on its own does not guarantee perfect results!. Even after a long process of surgery, splinting, and rehab, your finger may never be like it was before the injury!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it's effecting your ability to play basketball and your not playing as good as you did before your injury, you should consider having the surgery done!.It sounds like its worth it to me,since your thinking about your ability to play college basketball in the future!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

see a doctor!.

if you re-break it you could get it even more squif!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
