Honestly there is nothing to worry about
i had one quite recently, on my head ;S bit of a worry but it was actually quite fun lol
All that happens is that you just lie in this sort of booth thing
[like this picture]
http://www!.sciencelearn!.org!.nz/var/scien!.!.!.
and they put headphones on you so you can listen to your favourite radio station, slide you into the machine [i gotta warn you its kinda clostraphobic but just concentrate on the music and youll be fine] and then you hear some mechanically noises - like something moving, which would be the mri scan thing, but the music blocks out most of the noise

Mine was on the NHS too, and im 16!. then you go out, quite simple, nothing to worry about, and rather relaxing ;DWww@Answer-Health@Com

I had one 2 weeks ago! On my Back and Brain!. It looks like a big White tube but as you're only having your knee done it is likely you may only have your leg put into the tube!. It is noisy but I had some earphones to wear, the radio station was awful and I was in there for 40 minutes!!! (A leg should take a lot less!)!.

It's nothing to worry about!. Make sure you remove all make up, jewellery and anything metal including zips etc otherwise you will be asked to change into a gown!. The result takes approx 10 days to get back to your Consultnat and approx 2-3 weeks to get back to your GP so you have to be patient!.

You'll be fine - it's a doddle!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't be scared its nothing I have had 2!. They give you ear plugs when you go in, and all you hear is a bit of buzzing, you don't feel a thing!. The only thing is that you get a bit closurefobic and your so close to the top of the tunnel, but just close your eyes and relax, you are only in there for about 10 minutes and the time flies by!.
Don't woory theres nothing to worry aboutWww@Answer-Health@Com

I've had quite a few MRIs!. Since it's on your knee, they'll probably allow you to go feet first so it won't be as loud!. I've been in both ways and find it's pretty hard going in head first, it's such a small area and it's so loud that they give you ear plugs!.
I really wouldn't worry about foot first, but if you have to go head first, I recommend just closing your eyes and just day dream about something happy for awhile!. If anytime you're so uncomfortable that you feel you can't take it anymore, they'll stop for you, BUT remember, you'll have to do that test all over again!. The whole thing is only like 30 mins!. so you'll do fine!Www@Answer-Health@Com

My friend just had an MRI on her knee and she was scared to death!. Turns out they just put your legs in the machine!. It does have a loud noise but not as bad as your thinking!. She said it was NOTHING like she thought and it was no big deal!. Youll be fine sweetie, It doesnt hurt and theyre not going to stick your whole body in there!. If you have an I-pod take it just in case!. But I promise you you'll be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if it's just on your knee only your leg will need to go into the scanning machine - i've had four head-to-waist scans so my whole body had to go in which takes much longer - i was a bit nervous the first time but there's nothing to worry about - a bit noisy - thumping noise - they gave me headphones with music to listen to i shouldn't think your knee scan should take very long - you'll have to remove any metal like rings, watches etc!. which damage the machine - don't worry! the staff are very niceWww@Answer-Health@Com

I must have had about 20 now but they still un-nerve me beforehand!. However, on the last one the rhythm of the noise almost sent me off to sleep!. Yes, it is loud but think of something or request headphones!. You will be in constant touch with the Staff so just shout out if your scared!.

What I do, as I always go in head first, is, as the table starts to move I close my eyes and the I don't see myself disappearing into the tunnel!.

It works for me!. Try not to be scared and a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's just a machine the scans your knee!. What is there to be scared about!. You just have to be very still for a few minutes and that is it!. No needles, medicine!. Quit boring actuallyWww@Answer-Health@Com

Don't be scared - an MRI scan can't hurt you !. I believe it is a bit noisy - take a pair of ear plugs!Www@Answer-Health@Com
