Can I sue a doctor who is pushing drugs on his clients?!

Question: Can I sue a doctor who is pushing drugs on his clients!?
I think my dad is hooked on oxycondin after a back surgery and now he needs a knee replacement!. His doctor told him that anyone who has ever taken oxycondin will not be able to relieve pain with anything other than more oxycondin!. This is clearly false and it seems like he is trying to push this drug on my dad!.
Can I sue the doctor for peddling these drugs!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
If you feel that is the case, report the Dr!. If this is true and he has a history of "overprescribing" narcotics the DEA (here in US) will investigate that!. Some Dr's have had their priviliges suspended from prescribing narcotics if found to be writing to many narcotic scripts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, I don't think so - but you could certainly try reporting him to the Medical Council!.
Make sure things are really the way you perceive them to be before going this route!.
I suggest you make an appointment, see the doctor and tell him about your fears for your Dad on exycondin!. Perhaps he will even put your mind at ease!.
It may be that your Dad is not actually hooked on the painkiller but simply takes it because it works!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The answer in your case would be no!. If you feel that the doctor that your father is seeing has become detrimental to his health, suggest that he locate and start seeing another doctor and ask for their opinion!. You yourself cannot sue the doctor only your father would be able to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no you can't sue!. your dad needs to ask him he thinks another pain killer won't help him!. i've been on pain meds for years because i live in pain!. when i had to have surgery the doc changed my med so it would work better!. i am thankful for pain meds and for cronic pain only meds with drugs will help with pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No you personally cannot sue the doctor!. If you really feel that your father is being mistreated or over-medicated, you need to get him to see another doctor for a second opinion!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think so!.!.You just have a right as patient to refuse any medications or treatment to be given to you!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
