Should I go see a doctor about my ankle?!

Question: Should I go see a doctor about my ankle!?
It happened two nights ago!. It's badly bruised and cannot bear weight!. I would hate to go and waste my time and money to see the doctor when he will probably just tell me to stay off of it until it feels better and prescribe some pain killer!. I already have crutches and am on painkiller for a muscle tear in the same leg!. I've been R-I-C-E-ing it (rest, ice, compression, elevation) and kind of feel like what's the point in going!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
There are three classes of sprains!. The ligament is stretched, the ligament is partially torn, or the ligament is completely torn!. (class 1,2 and 3 sprains) From you description of the amount of pain and the bruising, I suspect that you have a class 3 sprain!. You have done every thing right, so far (RICE)!. But a walking cast or boot may be appropriate to prevent further injury and allow the ligament to heal!. You already have the crutches, so it's your call!. Perhaps you could discuss this with your doctor and ask if a walking cast/boot could be prescribed!. This is a simple off-the-shelf orthopedic appliance!. (see link below)Www@Answer-Health@Com

My advice would be to see a doctor!. It may be fractured!. Severe bruising occurs a lot more in fractures than sprains!. Is the bruising isolated or is it running up your leg or foot!? Even if it is not broken, you may have sustained a significant soft tissue injury!. If its not better soon, take a trip to see a doctor!. The consequences are worse if something really is wrong, and if its nothing, then you will at least have piece of mind!.

Hope I was able to help!. Feel free to email me with any further information or questions!.

You either sprained it really bad or you fractured it!. It may be the second one so you should see a doctor before it is infectedWww@Answer-Health@Com
