Knee joints clicking?!

Question: Knee joints clicking!?
If i run or walk quite quickly or for too long, my knee joint (my left leg) feels like there's trapped air and it feels really uncomforble! I noticed theres a patella bone sticking out, not much, but a little, unless that's the cause!?

So how can i stop this happening so i dont have to rest after every treadmill activity in the gym!

Thanks ever so much :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would guess it's cartilidge,, and you should have a GP or Hospital have a look,, you might need surgery!. =0

Ask a proper doctor to have a look though,, my view's not much to go by!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is much more likely to be a piece of cartilage, especially if it feels like there is any kind of catch in the movement!. If there is any puffiness around the kneecap, or patella, after exercise, that is a sign of fluid escaping into the knee joint!.

Either way, or there are other possibilities, too, it is not right!. This is why MRIs are so popular, they work! My major suggestion is to get an appointment with either an orthopedic or sports medicine specialist!. Knees do NOT cure themselves!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hey i think u must see an orthopaedic!.!.!.!.,we cant simply give the answer, bcoz its seems a medical problm!.Dont do any exercises until u feel comfortable!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are not expressing any complaints that are stopping you from doing these activities!. So my guess on the amount of information that you have given is Patello-Femoral Joint Dysfunction!. That is a long term that simply means the knee cap is not riding in the grove between the two femoral condyles( knuckle bones of the knee )!. This is associated with a few things but usually with a muscular imbalance!. There are also some conditions where the knee cap actually sits either high or low in position!. The best way to take care of this is to see an orthopedist who will or should refer you to a physical therapist!. They will work with you on strengthening the weakened muscle and do some biofeedback work for this!. There are also some taping techniques to help this!. If you don't wish to see a doctor immediately then try these simple exercises to start with!. Get a book of about two or three inches in size!. Place the book along side your left foot so it is parallel!. Place the foot on the book and stand up!. This will help to strengthen the muscle that is usually weak!. Isometrics are another way to strengthen the area!. Sit in a long leg position and place a towel roll under the knee!. Push the knee down onto the towel by using the large muscle on top of the thigh ( quadriceps )!. Hold this for a few seconds and release!. Do this as many times as you wish!. Another movement is a straight leg raise!. Start in the same position and keep the knee straight while lifting the leg from the hip!. Lift only until your heel comes off the floor!. Try to work up to twenty-five!. Afterwards always ice the knee for fifteen to twenty minutes!. There are over the counter braces available at most pharmacies or good sporting goods stores!. You want a neoprene sleeve with a cut out for the knee cap!. There may or may not be a felt horseshoe pad with the brace!. Start with the pad on the outside of the knee to block the movement to the outside!. This should help but if it doesn't then try it at different positions until one is found that stops the pain!. Again the best solution for this is to see an orthopedist who will direct your care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi! :-)
I hope that you can get in to talk to a primary care doctor very
soon!. I am not a doctor so I certainly cannot diagnose what is wrong with your knee and causing you pain!. However, I have heard that running is extremely hard on your legs, knees and feet, especially when you exercise religiously every day!.

I took ballet lessons and ice skating lessons as a girl, plus I also marched in my high school band on a daily basis!. I have been told by many doctors that people who push themselves really hard in any exercise regimen can potentially wear out their joints!.

I am now in my late 40's and have been suffering with Chronic
Osteo Arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis since my mid-30's!.
The only way you will know for sure what is causing your knee joint pain is to either see your primary care doctor and have an x-ray done or if it is possible, go see an Orthopedic doctor
to make sure you get the best and most accurate diagnosis!.

There is no one qualified here on this Q&A board that can answer your question, but I would suggest that perhaps you decrease your exercise regimen, and after exercising, try putting some ice in a baggie with a towel wrapped around it on your knee to see if it helps alleviate any of your pain!.

I am sure this is more information than you are asking for but I, too, was suffering from bad knee pain and I decided just to tough it out until I found out it was too late for many options I might have been able to have instead of going what I am going through now!. The story below is why you need to see a doctor now before the pain gets worse!.

My right knee clicked a lot when I walked and it is due to my knee now being in end-stage arthropothy (arthritis)!. I have no synovial fluid between my knee bones to provide any cushion and that causes the bones to rub together and it tend to cause some swelling around my kneecap!. It can be very painful just trying to walk!. As I am sure you are aware, there can be many reasons for experiencing knee pain!. That is why it is so important to see a doctor now to prevent this pain from
getting any worse!.

It took about five years before my doctors actually discovered that I had Arthritis, and since I was fairly young at the time, my docs did not suspect that Osteo Arthritis was the reason for my bad knee pain!.

By the time my doctors discovered that I had both forms of Arthritis, I was already in the Chronic stage and was referred to a Rheumatologist by my Orthopedic Surgeon who had operated on my neck injuries from that one car accident!. The trauma of the car accident and the fact that Arthritis tends to be hereditary excellerated my chances of developing Arthritis about 20 yrs earlier than the doctors would have suspected!.

My Rheumatologist advised me to go have an X-Ray of my knee taken and a MRI performed which would confirm what they thought was causing my knee pain!. I am now at the point that I need a total knee replacement because there's no more
synovial fluid in my knees and there is also some damaged cartilage!.

But by talking with my doctor, I found out that there was an alternative procedure we could try first, prior to me hobbling to
the hospital for a total knee replacement!. There is a product that could be injected into my knee called Synvisc which just might potentially help put some 'padding' back in between my knee bones!.

The procedure consists of having a series of three injections of a substance called Hylan G-F 20, which is similar to our synovial fluid, a substance that occurs naturally in the joints!. My doctor injects the Synvisc right in the knee joints after
numbing my knee with cold liquid Nitrogen and then a shot of Lidocaine!. The Synovial fluid acts as a lubricant and shock absorber and this is mainly used for the treatment of pain in people with end stage osteoarthritis!.

If you are allergic to eggs or egg products, this will not work for you because the substance is obtained from a rooster's comb!. Yes, you read this correctly!. The thing that is important to me is that this procedure gave me enough relief to avoid putting off having the totally invasive surgery of a total knee replacement!. So, for me, these injections have been great, so far!.

Here is a link that you can read if you would like to learn more about the Synvisc procedure!. It has helped give me enough relief to where I am not having to hobble to an Orthopedic Surgeon to have my knee joint totally replaced!. You can also type Synvisc into your browser and quite a few sites come up that may be of some help to you, either now or possibly in the future!. Synvisc is made of Hylan G-F 20 which is similar to synovial fluid, a substance that occurs naturally in the joints!. Synovial fluid acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in-between the joints!.

Please understand that I am only sharing my story with you,
and that in order for you to find out what is causing you to have knee discomfort, you will need to go see your doctor asap to obtain a dianosis!. You may have something else going on with your knee such as torn cartiledge or any other number of things that may not require anything except for you to ease up some on your workout regimen!.

Best of luck to you and I hope you are feeling better soon! ?
