Take a hot shower and let the water run on the muscles that have cramped up!. The cramps should go away in a few minutes!. Then get up and walk around and take some potassium, as the others have suggested!. If you're not under a doctor's treatment, get a check up!. This is a sign of poor circulation and could be a sign of further complications like diabetes or hypertension or atherosclerosis!.

To prevent them in the future, avoid sleeping in a draft and keep your feet covered with socks when sleeping and keep your legs warm as well!. Try to stretch the muscles daily, especially before bed!. If you are physically active (aerobics, jogging, etc!.) make sure you are drinking enough liquids as well!. A low calorie sports drink will help!. Also make sure you're doing a proper cool down and post-exercise stretching routine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

e2008, summed it all up!. You really need to eat bananas, also avacodos have potassium in them!. Make sure to drink water, and the stretches will help!. My husband has these at times and he has found that stretchin the backs of his legs really helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
