I am scheduled to have a c-section on a Thursday!. My hospital stay has been approved for 4 days by my insurance company!. But 4 days takes me through Sunday!. Do hospitals discharge patients on Sundays!? I just want to make sure we are out of the hospital on time and don't end up responsible for the cost of an extra day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes they do!. You can also remind them you are only authorized for 4 days!. Many contracts would require the hospital eat the extra charges and they don't want to do that either!. Congratulations on the new addition to your family!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, I recommend you call your insurance company to ask the very same question as well as to verify all aspects of your insurance coverage while in the hospital!. You should make sure you are precertified by the insurance company before heading in to ensure proper and complete coverage under your policy!.

That being said, the hospital will discharge you as soon as the doctor signs off that it you are medically ready to go home, whether it be a weekday, Saturday, or Sunday, and usually at any time of the day, although most hospitals prefer to discharge earlier in the day to make room for new patients, etc!. Feel free to call your hospital to confirm this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They discharge patients, any day and any time!. But if you are having any troubles and feel you want to stay an extra day, and the Doctor feels the same, the hospital or Doctor can call for an extension and approval!. Best to you young lady and the new baby!. If you are not out on time, then the Doctor/Hospital is at fault and should eat the extra costs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes they discharge patients 7 days a week as long as you have someone to watch you when you get home!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
