At work they have started to monitor how long I spend at the toilet. Any thought!

Question: At work they have started to monitor how long I spend at the toilet!. Any thoughts!?!?!?
At work I had my review meeting and it seems in my review they have been monitoring how long I spend at the toilet!. I work in a call centre and apparently you are alllowed to be ''off system'' for toilet breaks for 15 mins per day!. I have chrones disease (and have explained this) so sometimes spend longer at the toilet!. I has now officically went on file that I take ages atthe toilet/away from my desk!!! I fear they are trying tp make me look bad, I don't think my boss likes me much!! Any suggestions as to what I should do!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

What a cruel and painful disease!.

I fully agree with Ali V, you need to get a letter or a medical certificate from your doctor stating you have Crohn's disease and how it affects you!.

I would also print off the symptoms of Crohn's disease from the internet and give it to your supervisor and the HR manager with the doctors medical certificate and ask that is put in your file for future reference!. And tell them any future reviews they must take into take into consideration that you have Crohn's disease, and to ignore it is abuse of your rights!.

Keep a copy and next time you have a review you take it in with you so you can be armed with information!.

I would also put some brochures about Crohn's disease around the office and if anyone asks, tell them you have Crohn's and that is why I need to take frequent toilet breaks, and you don't appreciate people complaining because you can't control the disease it controls you!.

You should have to resort to this, but if they are going to nit pick then fight back with information on Crohn's!.

I hope they remove the official warning from your file (it is a warning if it has been put on file)!.

I wish you luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

It might be a good idea to get a letter from your g!.p!. confirming your illness!. Then request a second review meeting, where you can (a) insist that the letter should be held with your personnel records in the HR dept, and (b) explain the delicate nature of the problem!. Your last interviewer might not have appreciated the relevance of your condition, and you are entitled to have a friend / work colleague present at the second meeting to ensure fair play!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I presume they are employing you in the full knowledge of your illness!. In that case, as Nellie says, get a letter from your GP explaining the effect of that illness and insist that a copy of it is kept with your file!. (Keep the original!.) It could well be that whoever is reviewing you isn't aware of your needs!.

If they later try to discipline or sack you, you have a firm basis for action, in that they knew your problem and knew your needs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Are you working in the UK!? If so it sounds like your human rights are being violated here!.
As for trying to make you look bad, we have a name for that too; it's constructive dismissal!. I would definitely seek advice on this!.
Furthermore, if they are aware of your medical condition, they should make 'reasonable adjustments to your working procedures' to accommodate this!. That's the way I understand it anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sorry, but with a problem like yours, you shouldn't expect people to work round you AND do some of your work for you!. There must surely be other jobs you can do where being away from your work doesn't put an extra load on others!. Remember, there IS a limit to the tolerance and kindness of people, and you should take this into account when applying for a job!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Look for another job, but dont quit until you find one!.and when you resign, draft a letter outlining everything you mention here, and send copies to all those people that are above your boss, your state labor relations board, your congressmen, the mayor of the city where your job is located etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Here's a couple of options!.
1>try not to go to the toilet as much, even though ur ill!.
2>talk it out with your boss, or your boss's superior!.
3>falsely offer working over time for the same pay to gain
sympathy!.!.be careful with this one though ;-)
4>find out who's the spy timing you and others, avoid
being in that person's eye!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sorry, if you really are ill, then its bad!.

But if like most ladies, you go to the loo for a chat, or to put on more lippy, then they are right!.

Time is money

Put it this way, you hire a joiner, who gets paid by the hour, how would you feel if he spent a lot of time in the loo!.

Be honest please!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

threaten a lawsuit!.!.!. that seems discriminatory! jerks!.!.!.

(probably wouldn't actually go to the trouble of suing them, but see how they react to the idea that someone actually won't accept this kind of treatment and will actually do something about it and stand up for their rights)Www@Answer-Health@Com

OMG how very sad of your employers, if you are a member of a union or something of that nature, I would ask them what they think of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If that is the case then I would seek a letter from your doctor explaining your long breaks and the matter should be resolved!. As for your boss not liking you, I don't know!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I heard something about that!. But it doesn't seem right to have your 'toilet time' monitored cause you can't control it really can you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
