Before you actually stop smoking Jazmin, think positively about the benefits, for you, your friends and family!.
Throw away or destroy all cigarettes and any other smoking paraphernalia!.
If you really want to kick the habit, you've already overcome the first hurdle!.
Even if you have some cigarettes left, seize the moment and throw them away!. You will feel stronger in your resolve when you do this!.
PREPARE YOURSELF MENTALLY
When you decide to give up, it can be very helpful to start thinking of yourself as a non-smoker, so that you have a positive frame for your efforts, and feel that you are becoming something new, rather than giving up something that you used to have!.
It can be useful to feel that you want to give up, rather than feeling that you ought to give up!.

DO THINGS THAT MAKE SMOKING DIFFICULT
Find things to do that make smoking difficult, like cycling, washing the car, doing an exercise class, going to places where nobody smokes!. You will find that keeping active takes your mind off smoking!.

DON'T BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF
Don't underestimate how tough it is trying to give up!. Recognise that and get professional help and support!.
If you do smoke, just see it as a natural part of the process of giving up, and try not to have another one!.
Don't beat yourself up if you slip up and have a cigarette!. Just don't get it out of proportion, or use it as an excuse to start full-time again!. Let it go and just carry on with your new life as a non-smoker!. Take each day as it comes!.

REWARD YOURSELF !
Put aside the money you used to spend on cigarettes and use it to reward yourself!. You may be surprised to find out how much you save, and you deserve a reward for all the effort you've put in!.

You can also find lot of support on the internet and some of the organizations dedicated to helping smokers kick the habit are:

I gave up a few years ago, I think if you actually want to give up, you will - but you need to be in the right frame of mind!. If you feel apprehensive or you enjoy smoking still, don't bother!. You need to give up at the instant you feel like it (In my case, in a pub & half way through a fag), tell everyone so you can't have a sneaky one anywhere, chuck away fags, lighters, ashtrays (No, really - don't stick 'em in a cupboard)!. It's 99% psychology: forget patches or gum, they're just a constant reminder of smoking, and only combat the addiction, not the habit - and don't give yourself the opportunity to smoke: Don't take enough cash to work to buy a pack & pay attention to how you feel; you'll quickly realise that it's just a habit & you smoke at specific times or in certain places!.
My wife still smokes, so if I can do it, you certainly can!. Best of luck xWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well let me tell you that I am a smoker since I was a teenager and I am now in my matured years and I have not stopped it yet although many of my relatives and friends have been against it!. You can only stop it because you want to stop it and it cannot work it in any other way!. So long as you are determined to do so for very good reasons, I do not think anybody else can encourage you to start doing something that you do not want to!. So you are the best judge in this case!. Good luck with all your endeavors to stopping it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've tried quite a few times and I find the patches or gum doesn't work for me!. I still had the horrible withdrawals and it just didn't work!. If you really want to quit, I suggest Champix (Chantix in the US)!. You need a prescription for it, but I swear, it's the best stuff out there to help you quit!. It's also a little expensive, but well worth the money!. It takes away your cravings and makes you not want a cigarette!. You take them for 12 weeks, generally!. You take them for 7-14 days before you set your quit date so it has a chance to build up in your system!. It really is the best stuff out there!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Take a piece of paper and write down the names of al the people who are special in your life!.Think of how special your to them as well!.Imagine how different their lives would be if you weren't a part of if!.Keep this slip of paper in your pocket and whenever you feel tempted just take a moment and think of what you want the future to hold for you!.I'm not saying it will be easy for you ( I've never smoked) but I think that this paper will help you to stay motivated!.However you must primarily stop for you and your health!.Realize as much as people love you they cannot make you stop!. There are many web sites you could also check out that give you support and techniques to stop smoking!.Take it one day at a time!.Good luck!.Take careWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well if your attitude is 'i'm going to give it a go' then you are only going to fail again!. The only way you are going to succeed is ask your self truthfully do you really want to give up!? If so then it will work this time!. I used to be like you and stopped smoking and then took it back up 2 years later i was a very heavy smoker; Now i haven't smoked in over 7 years and i know i wont again!. I think what worked for me is that i took an asthma attack because of the smoking and decided that day that was it finished no more cigarettes!. it was truly frightening and horrible not to be able to breathe properly and that was my motivation to give up !. I thank my lucky stars that it wasn't something awful like cancer that scared me into quitting!. So you can list all the reasons for your health as motivation to quit!. Use the strongest patches for the first couple of weeks, there is this brilliant thing that i used it looks like a pen with a little nicotine capsule!. Buy some of these they are great especially when your out with mates in the pub and folk are smoking all around you; with them you get just enough nicotine with out all the chemicals and smoke to get you by the really rough times!. the gums are disgusting but use whatever gets you through!. Yes, it's going to be hard but keep telling yourself it's going to be worth it, and what is it now over 5 quid a packet!? think of all the money you'll save and take it from me once you've cracked this you are going to feel so much better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

These are some hints that helped me:

Keep busy as if you're bored you are more likely to think of cigarettes!.

Cut up some raw veggies to nibble on when cravings strike!.

Put the money you would have used for cigs into a jar and count it regularly, promising yourself a treat with the money once a significant sum has accumulated!.

Avoid other smokers and smoky places!.

Paint your nails - its very hard to light up if you have wet nails and this will give you something to do if you get fidgety hands!.

Try a nicorette inhalator, they take a bit of getting used to and they taste foul, but I found them brilliant for the really difficult cravings!.

Learn some relaxation techniques if you tend to smoke when stressed out!. I used to tense all the muscles in my body and then relax them in succession - focusing on this diverted my brain from thinking about cigs and dealt with the stress that would have otherwise caused me to smoke!.

Oh and above all, praise yourself for every day you go without cigarettes, every day brings you closer to your goal of being a non-smoker

hth and good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

i gave up a year ago and i found it very hard, i kept taking the patches off and smoking (i do not advise!.!. made me very ill!!)

try to put the money you would have spent in a jar, and at the end of each month treat youself with the money, so that over time you will have things to show for the money you WOULD have spent on ciggys! or save for a holiday!!

if you are in a pub, when your mates go outside for a smoke, stay indoors, try and time your drinking with their smoking, so that when they go for a smoke, you go to the bar, or to the toilet, you wont feel left out then because you are doing something else!.

go on a drink detox for the first 2 weeks, just until initial cravings go away, as most of us associate smoking with socialising and socialising with drinking!!

dispose of any lighters, ashtrays, and also keep an item of clothing handy that you smoked in!.!. when you feel like a smoke !.!.!. smell the clothing !.!. it will make you feel sick!!!

good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i found it helpful to avoid the places where i used to go to smoke and make your home a smoke free environment i also found the nicorette inhalator useful as a substitute for a cigarette but try to find a thing to do as a replacement for a ciggy not food though try a run or a hobby good luck its hard but with help from people around you you can do itWww@Answer-Health@Com

be a brave man and you are telling me like a girl you want to stop smoking!.!.!.!.have your will power do that
I stopped drinking in just single moment and never looked back
Think positively and nothing can stop you if you want to stop smoking and sit with non smokersWww@Answer-Health@Com

i stopped new years night,i used the nicotene gum and a paul mckenna cd i downloaded from limewire!.if you want to stop you will do it!!!! (i smoked for about 20 years)occupy yourself when you need a cigarette, and try eating fruit,as you may put on weight eating snacks!.good luck xWww@Answer-Health@Com

yeah just dont buy anymore fags , i promise you its a fool proof way to stop smoking lol oh oh heres comes the frying panWww@Answer-Health@Com

I'm a non-smoker!. I'm not a kid!.!.!.!.and, I am female!. My mother told me that I could smoke when I could afford to!. I received female wages therefore was never able to afford cigarettes!. I suspect that people who do smoke have some sort of addictiveness (perhaps not toward everything in life) toward either a taste or smell in their dna!. The cigarette makers have said that over the years they have increased the nicotine (which is addictive to some people) over the years to increase their sales!. Anytime a person has an addiction they should use the same rules to get off of that addiction that the Alcoholics Anonymous uses, the 10 steps!. Read up online those steps!.

I know that recently one of the patches have been removed from the market as dangerous!. I don't know which one you plan to use!. I do know of a few people who did get off of cigarettes (tobacco) thru hypnosis!. Not every practioner does hypnosis well so find someone who hypnosis worked for and go to that practitioner!.

If it's a habbit, from maybe you started smoking to counteract boredome (while sitting and waiting in one place for something to occur as in the military in war) or because of peer pressure then perhaps by finding a replacement (like lollypops!.!.!.remember that Tully Syvalis did that) or replacement by way of carpentry, golf, bowling, tennis, jogging or things that you like to do with your hands to replace the cigarette might help!.

Recently I've heard some statistics about people who are trying to lose weight, that they lose weight faster and keep it off if their friends are lightweights or went on the diet with them!. Have you considered that you might be smoking because you are around other people who do!? Maybe your peers can go on a smoke-free campaign with you!. Or maybe you can change friends and only talk with them on the phone or in email instead!.

I'd think that since now, if you liked to fine dine, that restaurants have a no-smoking policy, and that employers have a no-smoking policy!. I spoke with a person from Japan who said he lived in a non-smoking apartment (said lots of them are non-smoking there)!. Even now our county will not hire people to work for them (a new law that came into being last week) who smoke!.!.!.!.you'd think that all that (a future being taken away) would give enough encouragement (incentive) for people to stop smoking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Jazmin, your giving up smoking is the most important purpose someonee could do for oneself, and I want you to give some help for your health!!! (I still smoke but nowadays I couldn't, but what I'll tell worked for a lot of people) Nr!.1: eat "seas" of juices: orange, all fruits, prepare with a juicer an preserve the juices in a bottle into the fridger !.
nr!.2: your breath: must be deep breath, and jump and dance every momenth you think in a cigarrete, breath, breath, breath and say to you: i have pure air, fresh air, what a beatiful breath and the smell of the air is so plenty of flowers, nr!.3: the meals, the food will have more flavor, you'll taste better after a few days leaving smoke, don't worry you won't gain pounds, you eat cereals , milks, water, fresh water, fruits , but nothing of sweets because cookies and so call to smoke in you, well keep me with the news about the pads, your first day without smoking and good luck, the best decision oneself do to oneself, if remember something more will tell you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
