Any nurses out there? How can you tell if a toe is broken without seeing a docto!

Question: Any nurses out there!? How can you tell if a toe is broken without seeing a doctor!? see details!.!.!.!?
okay, I stubbed it and it bruised pretty bad, but it's not bent, not particularly swollen, and it is "getting better", i!.e!. doesn't hurt as much as it did yesterday!.

I was gonna buddy tape it before going about my day, but when looking up info on that, it says NOT to do so if it might be broken!.

I really don't think it is, but is there any way to know for sure!?

(I actually hit the "top" of the toe against the bathtub while getting in, as opposed to stubbing it in the more common way, it's the second toe in, next to the biggie)

thanks for your help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You can buddy tape it!. That's all they would do at the doctors office if it was broken anyway!.

The reason they said not to buddy tape it: they don't want you to buddy tape a fracture that is displaced--that has a bone that's not aligned up right!. That wouldn't seem to be a problem that you are describing!.

There really is no way of knowing if its broke, just by symptoms alone!. It sounds as though your pain is subsiding now, highly doubtful if its fractured!.
Even if it is, there isn't anything you can do for it anyhow!.!.!.

I guess the best predictor would be how long your toe gives you problems!. If it goes past 2-3wks!.!.it may be fractured!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think there is anything even a doctor can do for a broken toe!. I would try to stay off of it as much as possible and alternate hot and cold compresses!. I wouldn't waste my money to see a doctor over a broken toe!. Hope you feel better soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your toe is broken, all the doctor would do would be to tape it to the toe that is closest to it so that it heals straightly!. No worries!Www@Answer-Health@Com

might be dislocated
