Is extreme pain/soreness from tetanus shot normal?!

Question: Is extreme pain/soreness from tetanus shot normal!?
I received a tetanus shot one week ago (in my left arm) when I went to the ER for a knee injury!. The needle was so tiny, I barely felt it!. But the next morning, my left side hurt terribly!. I couldn't lift my left arm up, it really hurt to laugh or move or stretch, and I had extreme tenderness starting around the left side of my ribcage (under my breast) all the way up to the injection site!. The injection site was barely visible, not red and only a little swollen!. My ribcage area still hurts, one week later, and I have to be careful with the way I move!. It feels almost like a really bad muscle cramp!. I've never had a reaction like this before!. Is this normal!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I have had tetanus vaccines several times from various injuries and never experience any side effects other than my arm maybe hurting a little!.!.!.I have never experienced anything like what you are experiencing!.

I did read that adults who received more than the recommended doses of Td vaccine can experience increased local reactions, such as painful swelling of the arm!. This is due to the high levels of tetanus antibody in their blood!.

The most frequently reported side effects following vaccination with Tdap were headache, generalized body aches, and tiredness!.

I think you should contact a your primary physician!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

See a doctor - it seems a bit extreme!. My arm was heavy and achy for a few days but not like your reaction!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
