Question: I just had my cast taken off than had a new one put on!. Any suggestions to get rid of the smell!?
I had it on for 12 days and it covered three of my fingers, it smells like a dead, rotten foot and nothing i'[ve done can get rid of the smell!. The new cast now covers only my hand but not the fingers except for a metal splint over my right ring finger!. So my gnarled, slimy fingers are now exposed!. I have school tomorrow and don't really want to have everybody next to me drop dead from the smell!. ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
There is not much you can do to fully get rid of the smell until the cast is removed completely!. The smell is caused by dead skin accumulating under the cast!.

I suggest taking a damp wash cloth or loofa and removing as much of the dead skin as possible from your fingers that are now exposed!. You may want to ask someone to help you with that because you are not supposed to get the cast wet and it may be difficult to do with one hand!. After you have removed as much of the dead skin as possible then use some type of scented hand lotion on your fingers!. This will help your skin and should lessen the scent!.

I also suggest repeating this process and removing the dead skin in a shower after the cast has been removed!. It may take you a while to do after the cast is removed because your skin will be really sensitive!.
