Pain, just in your mind?!

Question: Pain, just in your mind!?
When you get a skinned knee, for an example, after a few minutes, it no longer hurts, just a bit tender should you apply pressure!. Then if you go to take a shower, and the water runs over and into the cuts and scrapes, it stings!. I've always just accepted this, but I'm just wondering!. Is the water in your cut actually damaging you!? Because I understand that nerves are telling you what you are doing is BAD, when you feel pain!. I would assume there is no damage caused by the water, correct!? Is it just painful because the water is touching severed nerves!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, the water is in fact beneficial to cleaning the wound (assuming its clean)!. Pain is the bodies' response to internal/external stimuli alerting you to a potential problem or present danger!. You do have it right though, it IS in your head!. Hypnosis for one can actually turn off pain sensations, making one slip into a subconscious state where no pain is felt at all!. I have an extremely high pain threshold!. I've broken bones, and received nasty wounds that require stitches with nothing more that an eww and ahh, and I'm up and walking it off!.!.!. LOL As I get older though, those broken bones and such that I ignored, are coming back to haunt me now!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not neccesaryily!. There are chemicals, minerals, and organics in water that your nerves see as not a normal thing touching them!. They send you a pain response to basically tell you something is going on down there and they want your attention!. nerves don't just send pain signals to tell you something is bad!. They send you pain signals for a couple other reasons:
Something is out of the ordinary,
You need to stop what you are doing or you will cause damage,
and sometimes they get mixed up like when you hit your funny bone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
