ECG's often fail to diagnose heart attacks!. In the days when very junior doctors were allowed to discharge patients from casualty many people died having been falsely reassured by this test alone! It still happens if inexperienced admitting doctors do not do all the appropriate tests before allowing the patient to leave!.

It is essential to do at least a Treponin T to confirm that no cardiac damage has occurred!. Even if it hasn't, most physicians will insist on an exercise ECG, to confirm that the patient does not have crescendo angina, which may indicate that a heart attack is pending and requires rapid intervention!.

Hopefully you have not had a heart attack and your chest pain is not angina!. However a simple ECG does not exclude either!. Better to swallow your pride, go back to hospital and have things checked out properly!. The alternative is, at least potentially catastrophic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you should go back to hospital!. I hate needles but it is better being safer then sorry!. You don't wanna do yourslef permenant damage!. Just because the ECG was normal doesn't mean there isn't a underlying problem!. Seek help immediantly before it is too late!. Even if nothing is wrong, it can set your mind to rest and they can give you strong painkillers!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

I am hoping that by the time I answer this question you have already returned to hospital for further tests!. I know a chap who had a heart attack - he ignored his chest pains and finally went to his GP two days later - after tests, the doctor confirmed he had indeed suffered a heart attack - he was extremely lucky to have survived - he is fine now but goodness, what a close shave!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if youre still aving pain then you definiytely need to go back to hospital!. no theyll not be amused you signed youreself out this morning but they have a duty of care!. if you explain that youre afraid of needles then theyll do there best to reassure you and maybe get someone to chat to you whislt they do the neccasary tests!. you need to be upfront wth your wife shell be annoyed at first but your health is importantWww@Answer-Health@Com

Are you going to let a fear of needles potentially kill you!? An ecg/ekg is only a small part of the story!. Blood enzymes will tell them a whole lot more!.

It's up to you for sure, but if it were me, I'd get back there in a hurry!.

Personally I dont think they would of been happy at you signing out of hospital!.And as you say your ecg was normal, but the pains are still there!. In my opinoin you should have stayed in hospital and let them run tests!. Yes you should go back!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

god, your scared of needles, dont be such a baby! it doesnt even hurt, you could have thyroid problems, i had chest pains, and an ecg was normal!. But really it could be anythingWww@Answer-Health@Com

Have you had stress/anxiety issues recently!? Sometimes stress can cause bad chest pains that almost feel like a heart attack!.

Also, heartburn/indigestion can cause bad chest pains!.

Did they rule these two things out earlier!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes of course you should stop being such a coward a few injections won't kill you, however if you don't go back and you drop dead you'll never forgive yourselfWww@Answer-Health@Com
