Knee giving way hurts and makes a snapping and popping sound when it does why??!


Question: Knee giving way hurts and makes a snapping and popping sound when it does why!?!?
My knee over the last 12 hours has given way twice from underneath me when i have taking a step, it pops and there is a snapping sound which i can alos feel at the back of my knee on the outside but on the inside of the tendon!. It is really painful when it does it but pain does supside over a few hours!. Knee rather swollen any ideas!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with nemelf sounds like you have a torn cartilage!. Can you feel fluid on your knee!? it makes a kind of creaky squeaking feel when you squeeze it!. If you play sport or jog a lot then cartilage is the best bet!.
GP will confirm, keyhole surgery to remove the offending item!. All the best!.

has your knee had any trauma!?
any sidewards movement of your lower leg, enough to cause damage!?

i had a similar thing after some trauma to my knee, it turned out to be the ACL (anti-cruciate ligament) which keeps your knees in line!.
i needed a knee reconstruction to fix the problem!.
