Had Surgery that I did not ask for.....?!

Question: Had Surgery that I did not ask for!.!.!.!.!.!?
I went in to an oral surgen to get three wisdom teeth pulled!. I was aware that I had another rotted tooth that needed pulling but as I discussed with the billing lady and the doctor many times I could not afford to have all the work done!. The day I'm getting my teeth pulled I payed for three wisdom teeth $1510!. When I woke up they nurse said ok you are all done implant and all !.!.!.!.I was out of it but my boyfriend was surprised!. We noticed a couple days later that they had actually done the implant!. At the follow up my boyfriend brought this up and the doctor confessed that it was miscommunication!. Today I get a call from the billing lady asking me how I planned on paying for the implant!. I was so furious!. I told her I would get back to her!. But now I feel like I need to talk to a lawyer!. Has anyone else gone through this or have any advise for me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

As the former posted mentioned, ask to see the "Consent Form" that you signed, authorizing the surgery and advising you of risks and complications!. The oral surgeon will have listed the exact procedure that was to be done!. You may have been given a copy of it preoperatively, which would be perfect since an unethical dentist or front office person might go back and add the implant procedure to the original consent form!. When you get the form, ask them for a copy -- it is your right to do so!. There is generally a clause in the consent form that allows them to do additional procedures if needed (e!.g!., remove a normal appendix if they were in the gut anyhow doing something else) but I don't possible see how an implant could fit the bill!. Then I would sit down with the dentist and have an honest conversation with him!. If you are willing to pay for it, arrange for terms that fit your original budget!. If they are jerks about it, then you might just want to get a malpractice attorney!. I would not recommend threatening the dentist, but if things seem to be going south then you might want to casually mention that it seems as though you had an unauthorized procedure done, and perhaps it might be time to get an attorney!. But go in with a positve attitude, but don't take any grief from the front office person or the dentist!. Good luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did you sign anything the day they pulled your wisdom teeth!? Anything saying exactly what work they were planning to do!? I don't know if that is standard procedure for all oral surgeons or not!. I would look into that!. Either way, I would definitely be talking to an attorney!. If you don't pay the bill, regardless of your reason, they're going to say they don't remember that conversation and turn you over for collections and/or take legal action and get a court judgment!. Talk to an attorney!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might just need to talk to the dentist!. You have a witness, the dentist admitted his mistake!. You don't have funds to repay him!. Explain the situation!. Otherwise, I think small claims court would be the best route to go!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
