Answers:
There are three classes of sprains!. Class 1, the ligament is stretched!. Class 2, the ligament is partially torn!. Class 3, the ligament is completely torn!. You are probably familiar with class 1 sprains!. But if there was a lot of swelling, and especially if you saw a bruise or bleeding under the skin, then you sill have to wait longer for it to heal!. That may be on the order of six weeks - or more!. The RICE protocol is fine for the first few days!. Now, I would use applications of heat (a warm towel) to bring blood to the area and to help clean things up and repair the damage tissue!. A good ankle support is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you want to resume an active life to protect your ankle from re-injury!. (see link below)!. Otherwise, wear firm supportive shoes like hiking boots or shoes with a stable platform!. No high heels or platform shoes (if you are female)!. For ankle exercise, point your big toe, and write the alphabet in the air!. This will help to massage the tissues and to keep your ankle from stiffening up!. Take your time!. Every re-injury will st you back another 6 weeks to 6 months!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
