ringing in the ears signifies damage to the ear drum!. There is a condition called tinitis (I have it) where the ear drums get so damaged they have scar tissue on them!. The brain interprets this as sound because the surface of the ear drum is not smooth (vibration - an irregular surfacing of the ear is what the brain interprets as sound normally)!. So it sends the message of sound (the ringing)!. I find if I can get to a quiet place for awhile it settles down, but never goes away completely!. Shouldn't have gone to all of those rock concerts when I was younger without ear plugs!. I wear them when I go now!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The medical term for this is 'tinnitis', and it can be idiopathic or iatrogenic!. Most of us have this at one time or another in our lives!. Most often, it is idiopathic, that is, we do't know why it is happening!. The most common reason for the iatrogenic decsription, that is we have a reason for it, it medication side effects!. Most of the NSAID over the counter pain relief meds will cause this in certain circumstances!. If this persists you should seek medical assistance!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
