How do you go to sleep when your not tired?!


Question: How do you go to sleep when your not tired!?
I am a heavy sleeper but I always seem to have trouble getting to sleep at night!. My whole house is asleep and I am awake sitting up in bed regretting the sun going down!. What can I do I am in desperate need of sleep!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had the same problem for years!
Sometimes the problem for me is that it is too quiet in the room; having the room so queit makes it easier to listen to the creeks in the house or the sounds coming from outside!. It might beneif you to get a small fountain, or fishtank for your room to fall asleep to the sound of running water!. Or if you would rather have a fan in your room, you can fall alseep to the sound of the wind made!.
If i am really having trouble turning my mind off, i do a little meditating!. I lay completly on my back and i practice breathing in for 3 seconds, then breathing out for 3 seconds!. In each breathe in imagine your body breathing in white pure air and seeing it swirl around in your lungs!. When you breathe out, imagine breathing out all the toxins, stress and negative feelings out of your body!. You don't to imagine that if it's not for you!. Just keep breathing until you are relaxed!. Then roll over into a more comfy posisition and try to get some shut eye!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Katy C there had a good one--sex calms the mind!.

Also go for a 20-30 minute walk about an hour before you want to go to sleep or walk on a treadmill with the window open--the fresh air will help air out your system helping you yawn!.

Try to keep your bed room a tad cooler than other rooms as we as humans get sleepy when its cold!.

Try to lay down and try to let yourself fall asleep first, before assuming b/c you can't sleep on the sofa that you aren't tired!.

A hot bath or shower helps too--relaxing!.

Have your partner massage your back & if it leads to sex--well it can't hurt!

Try to sleep at the same time every night!.

Try to get up at the same time each day!.

Chai tea (well the caradom seeds) in chai tea with a bit of milk works as a opposite to caffeine so that can help with helping you go to sleep!. Also chamomile to soothe or milk weed is also good!.

Another tip, do you take any stimulants during the day such as drinking caffeine after 2 or 3 in the afternoon!? Do you eat a lot of sugar or anything heavy that may be hard to digest!?

As well, some medications can cause anxiety and make it hard to sleep such as some anti-depressants which can easily be switched to the morning meal vs!. the bedtime hour!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am probably going to get blocked or banned for this but my friends and I once had a discussion like this and we all agreed that masterbating was the best way to exhaust yourself and free your mind to allow you to sleep!.

You could also take the more politically correct route and drink some warm milk or tea!. If you have trouble falling asleep often, the best thing to do is to start a routine so your body and mind can get ready!. For example, I usually take a shower then read a book before falling asleep!.

Katy's on the right track there my friend!. Of course, if that's not a comfortable option, try this;

lay in bed quietly, and do this: while you think about nothing but your feet, tighten all the muscles in your feet and count to ten (silently); then, relax them slowly and completely!.!.!. now, tighten your calves the same way, and count to ten, focusing on nothing but your calves!.!.!.!. then, relax them the same way, slowly and completely!. Then, do the same thing with your thighs!.!.!.!. then with your butt, and so on, moving up your body, doing one pair of parts at a time, and counting, and concentrating!.!.!. If you make it all the way to your face, work your way back down, but I've NEVER gotten much further than my butt before I'm asleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
