Question: First day not smoking how can I keep busy to avoid cravings!?

i'm right there with you!. i smoke about 10 to 20 cigarettes a day and i smoked my last one 32 hours ago!. i'm going crazy!. but i keep thinking about how happy i'm going to be when i'm smoke free!. i'm thinking about going to go get the patch soon, i don't know if i can last the 3-4 days of physical withdrawals alone!.

as far as keeping cravings to a minimum, i'm doing things that i do normally but things that can't be done while smoking!. i have went swimming 3 times since my last cigarette!. it's helping a little!.

Well there is all the obvious stuff like substitutes made ie the inhalator thing so you have something to do with your hands, and if you are msiing the nicotine, there are patches, gum etc!.
I personally ate lots of (normal) mints and sweeties, always made sure I had things to do after work and all the typical times I would smoke (and after meals with a cup of and steered clear of all drinking establishments for 3 months!.

kick the habit today,,,get run over by a bus tomorrow(make sure u have clean underpants on(are u kidding,,hit by bus thats the first thing u empty)

Drink alot of water as it flushes the nicotine out of the body quicker!.I gave up cold turkey over three years ago!.The main thing that got me through was to hold a pen between my fingers as if I was holding a cigarette!.it really worked for me!.All the best as it does get easier once you get to say day four or more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tyr a new hobby where you have to use your hands like golf or knitting!
or if you are at work get something to keep your hands busy !.
best thing to do is get a nicorette inhalater which works just like a cigarette but doesnt kill you!
