Hey I have a bad habit of cracking my fingers!. Any suggestions on how to break the habit!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best way to break a bad habit is through what is called classical conditioning!. you know, like Pavlov!? (i forget how to spell his name) how he would ring a bell and the dog would get a piece of food then eventually the dog would just hear the footsteps of the man that gave him a treat and this alone would make the dog salivate!. idea being that you need to condition yourself to change your behavior!. maybe when you find yourself cracking your fingers you could snap an elastic band that you could wear around your wrist so that the snap causes a slight discomfort to you!? i know sounds crazy but you'll relate the finger cracking to the rubber band and when you go to crack your fingers eventually just looking down and seeing the rubber band will remind you not to crack your fingers!. or you could take up a hobby that replaces your anxiety driven behavior to crack your fingers w/something like coloring pictures or doodling on a note pad anything to keep your hands busy!.i hope this helps!. if i am no help, try webmd!.com and look up under psychology "how to break a habit" or "classical conditioning"Www@Answer-Health@Com

When you want to do it, think of something else before you do it!. Think about what you are about to do and do something else with your hands!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe if you were to know that it can cause arthritis in your joints later in life you might think twice!. I know I did and stopped as a kid when my grandmother told me!Www@Answer-Health@Com
