Do I have Shin Splints???!

Question: Do I have Shin Splints!?!?!?
I have this pain in my lower left leg!. I have been jogging a lot recently, (on the beach) and my leg has been hurting a lot!. It's the lower part of my leg, and it's on the side of the bone!. It really hurts when I touch it and when I put a lot of pressure on it!. Could this be shin splints!? Or just muscle building!? Should I stop jogging for a couple days!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Jogging on the beach is not often likely to cause shin splints,
however , jogging in the sand forces your muscles to maintain a contracted state longer than if you were jogging on asphalt!. Sounds like you tweeked your anterior tibialis
(if it is closer to the front) or your gastrocnemius( if the pain is closer to the back)!. Based on the dynamics of running in the sand, the way your foot kinda sinks in, your heel drops, forceing the calf muscle to contract, I am going to say the pain is probably on the outside, half the distance between your knee and ankle, either way, put an ice pack where the pain is for the first 24 hours and take one day off from running the next day use a hot pack over the same area and very slowly , with your leg up point your toes, this will stretch that muscle, the next day if you can bare weight, without any pain, stretch out good and try running, make sure this time you wear shoes when you run, it will keep your calf muscles from having to sustain such a long contraction, maybe try running on the street till you feel 100%, by the way, you can make a hot pack in your micro wave, wet a wash cloth, wring it out and put it in the micro wave for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, wrap your leg with a towel and put the hot wash cloth over it, you may have to repeat a couple times, micro wave hot packs don't stay warm too long!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you are still growing it is normal but you should always listen to your body and give it rest when it tells you to!. Ice, compression and elevation, mixed with some warm compresses to loosen the tendonsWww@Answer-Health@Com
