Firstly: get OFF your computer!.
Secondly, lie down with your eyes closed for an hour!.
Then open them up and see if it has helped!. I am not kidding you! You need to rule out any broken vessels (which hurt like hell, like there is something in your eye and there isn't) and they go down if you just close your eyelids!.
Thirdly, if it still feels 'sandy' in your eyes, try rinsing them out with plain old water from a running tap!. Eye open, scoop water in hand and splash in open eye a few times!. If this does not help, go see an emergency optician!. They can lift your eyelid (yes, peel it off your eyeball to look underneath) and look with a special optoscope to see if there is a corneal scratch or a foreign object in your eye!.
If there is, they will either get it out / and / or give you anaesthetic drops to deal with the pain!.
Of course, if it is excruciating, which is CRYING your eyes out underwhile shouting 'MY EYE MY EYE I AM GOING BLIND!!' you would NOT be sitting there typing, you would be on your merry little way to the emergency eye clinic already, wouldn't you!?
So don't worry, just lie down and come back and tell us it is all better after an hour or so!.

this is what i use!. i have contacts so i just use the solution and squirt it in my eye and it will run out, or at least the pain will stop!. water will work too, but it's more painful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It may alreadly be a corneal abrasion!. Patch the eye and go to a good ER for a fluoroscein stain to be on the safe side!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
