I just had back surgery a few days ago...why is part of my leg numb?!


Question: I just had back surgery a few days ago!.!.!.why is part of my leg numb!?
I had back surgery a few days ago (laminectomy and foraminotomy) and my left leg has some numbness in the shin area!.!.!.is this normal!. I had some numbness going down the back of my leg before the surgery, but now it seems to be just in the shin area!.!.!.is this normal!? Will it go away!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Usually after any surgery you will have a fair amount of inflammatory reaction at the site of the surgery!. This can cause some mild nerve compression, possibly causing your numbness!.

From working in healthcare and being around people who have had back surgery, I would say it should go away within a couple months, maybe sooner!. Just make sure and do exactly as your doctor says!. Do the therapy exactly like you are supposed to and don't over-do it!. Give time for the body to heal, don't think that if you start feeling better you can do more than you are suppsed to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
