No, I'm not from northern california but why r u asking if there is one in northern cal if you don't even know what it is!? I believe you do know what it is and you are playing coy because you have been shooting heroin!. No doubt probably black tar heroin rather than china white cos it's more popular in Cali not to mention that it's cheaper!. It's based upon a sliding fee scale!. A sliding fee scale is based upon how much you pay for all your other bills and what your income is!. (if you have an income-if you've been on heroin long enough; you probably have lost your job already) People who have money have to pay whatever the methadone center tells them to!. Like, if they are making 1600 a month and are paying out 900 dollars in bills and they are single but have 2 dependents living with them; the methadone center would consider the fact that they are paying 200 in bills and consider the cost of caring for the children as well!. Now, if they say "oh, we'll consider the cost of each child 350 a month (cos that's what the state always does-if it cost 700 a month for the child to survive the state will only give you half of whatever it takes cos that's how ALL states are-so then you would erase 700 for the two kids and 900 for the bills and that means the person would pay ZERO cents for methadone care!. Cos 700 plus 900 is 1600!. Now, if the person is making 2000 and has 2 dependants and pays 900 in bills; the methadone center is going to ask for about 15 to 20 percent of that extra 400 bucks!.So, that could be up to 80 dollars for one month but NOT for just one day or one week!. cos that's the way it works!.Methadone is a synthetic opiate; it is not a direct derivative of the poppy plant!. From the poppy plant comes opium and from opium comes morphine and when morphine is broken down it becomes heroin!. And when morphine is broken down legally it becomes demoral!. and when demoral is broken down legally it becomes percodan or percocet or codeine or oxycodone or hydrocodone or all those other type of opiate pain killers!. There are two ways to try to go cold turkey from heroin!. One is a 20 day treatment where they don't give you ANY methadone and allow you to get very sick and you feel like you are dying the entire time-but by the 20th day you feel okay-but that doesn't mean after a month or two you might not just change your mind and return to heroin again!.People relapse more often times than they beat the habit!. Even with methadone they will relapse back to heroin!. There are no guarantees that taking methadone is not going to want you to take another fix of heroin-especially if you were shooting it because then you miss the rush running thru your veins!. When you go to a methadone center they give you a small cup of pink liquid-it's not more than a couple ounces and this lasts you for 24 hrs!. before you need the methadone again!.Therefore, you have to go to the clinic every day except Sunday when they are closed!. They are open from 6 am to noon on Saturday and then they will give you a couple ounces of the pink liquid to drink when you are there (they monitor you as you swallow it) and then they give you another couple ounces to take home with you so that you can take it on sunday since they are not opened on sunday!. If you're wondering why insurance won't cover it even though it is an illness and it's based upon a sliding fee scale instead it's probably for the same reason they won't put you on disability for being a drug addict!. They can put you on temporary disability for being a drug addict but you better be clean within 2 yrs cos you will be taken off!.So, that is the reason you can't use your insurance at a methadone center!. The gov't feels that methadone is just another addiction (and really, in many ways it IS) so they refuse to pay for something that might be addictive!. The gov't would prefer that you get sent to a treatment center for 20 days and sweat it out and go COMPLETELY cold turkey; even though this could possibly kill someone!. So, this is why the gov't refuses to let your insurance pay for it!. I hope I have answered all of your questions but I can't answer the one about northern Cal-all you have to do is look up methadone centers in the yellow pages or on the computer and make sure to type in your city and I am sure that you will find a lot of them!. If your city is as big as my city is; you will find atleast 25 of them!. I'm not sure-I think my city has anywhere from 25 to 35 of them but I never really looked it up but that would definitely be my guess and I bet it would be a really close bet if not right on the mark!. (actually, right on the mark from 25 to 35 would be 30-ha ha)yeah, i checked and it was close enough-there were 37 clinics in my city!. oh, another thing I need to point out to you-never leave metadone around children under the age of 14!. One ounce of methadone could kill a child under the age of 8 and two ounces could kill a child under the age of 14!. That's how powerful methadone is!.
