Pain management?!

Question: Pain management!?
I have a dislocated disc in my neck and have been in a lot of pain!. My doctor prescribed me the duragesic patch but I don't want something that strong, besides I haven't been taking any opiates to build up any tolerance to the patch anyway!. I called him the other day requesting something different and he suggested I start the patch!. I have to go through pain management for this problem but I won't see him for a month!. How can I get some regular pain meds from the doc!? I'm in pain and I need them!. I think that patch is too strong for me and people have died on that!. What should I do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Go see a massage therapist!. See one at least twice a month!. Pain killers and opiates are just to cover up the pain, and don't do a great job at it!. Do not rely on meds for your pain!. Go get a massage and let them know your problem!. Find a regular and well-trained massage therapist or even a neuromuscular therapist (even better) and develop a treatment plan!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello Mr Cool Cat,
Call your pain management specialist and explain to him that you seriously don't want to take the "heavy duty" pain meds!. Tell him your concerns and he should respect your reasoning!. You may have to start with his nurse!.!.!.!.tell her exactly what you told us!. I'm a nurse and I can figure this one out! Good luck to you!

**Regarding dieing from pain medications; if you take them exactly as prescribed, you'll be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
