I'm having surgery to put a plate in my back in 2 days!. They're going in through my abdomen and I'm wondering what to expect when I wake up!. Have any of you had a similar surgery and if so how was the pain after waking up and for the first weekWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You will be on a morphine drip and won't really care about much!! lol,,, yeah I've had 2 spine operations and the best I remember I don't remember much for several hours!. They will keep you on the morphine at least until the next day more than likelyWww@Answer-Health@Com

You need to discuss pain management with your anaesthatist!.
It is usual for you to be kept as pain free as necessary to allow you to move and breath normally - within the limits of medical advice of course!.

If you have been suffering a lot of pain with your back before surgery, then it will probably seem so much easier after surgery once the acute insult to your body has settled!.

Good luck and get well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't forget to ask for the medication that stops you from throwing up!. With the advice from a friend I asked for it before the surgery so that they would immediately give it to me post op!.!.!. then whenever I felt even the faintest urge to vomit I let them know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
