That technique is not used for a prostate exam, bur for an inguinal hernia exam!. For males, the testes start near the kidneys, and then descend through the abdominal wall into the scrotum!.Thus, there is a defect in the abdominal wall!. The doctor puts his gloved finger up into the inguinal ring!. (He follows the spermatic cord up until he feels the inguinal ring) and then has you increase your abdominal pressure!. That's the cough part!. He has you turn your head so that you don't cough into his face!. What he DOESN'T want to feel is a hernia sack descending into the inguinal ring!. BTW!. you don't have to bend over for this!. You do it standing up and facing the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
