My friend has come into work, suffering from swollen glands around the throat!. The doctor gave her medication, so she's literally drugged up to the eyeballs, but her throat and ear are hurting, after she put a pack of ice around her neck area during the night to prevent further swelling and infection!. Was that a good idea in the first place!? I feel really bad, because I suggested she do that and now she seems worse!! I was told to put ice on my face after having my back teeth yanked out, and that worked against any infection and swelling!.!.!.!.!.!. so I thought this would work!.!.!. All she needs is one antibiotic for the swollen glands, so what do you mean she is literally drugged up to the eyeballs!? Was she given a narcotic for pain!? The sore throat is a natural response to the swollen glands, and the ears are connected there!. The sinuses, ears and throat are all attached and when one is infected, they all get involved!. Don't use ice in that area, or heat!. Heat especially will spread the infection!. Just stay on the antibiotics, gargle some salt water or a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in 8 ounces of water!. The salt will help the pain, the vinegar will kill germs!. Get some what they call Iodex at the pharmacy!. It is a little jar, and the salve is jet black!. It is a drawing salve Tell her to rub some on each swollen gland on her neck, wrap it with cloth, like a dish towel and leave it on all night!. Do this every night until the glands shrink!. I am no Doctor, but I've had a lot of experience with this kind of problems!. I wish for your friend the very best young lady!. Tell her to stay off any hard pain meds!. An extra strength Tylenol will do her worlds of good for the pain, nothing else!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think this would have hurt her!. If its a virus then there was not alot you could have done apart for maybe taking Ibroprofen for the swelling!.
Most of these things get worse before they get better so try not to worry that it may have been your fault!.
I'm not a doc but most of the things people catch are not treatable but I would suggest she go home and rest!. If she can get a doc app for today then she should!. If only for peace of mind!. LOL

If you are in the UK, you could try phoning NHS Direct Tel: 0845-4647 and speak to a qualified nurse!. She (or he) will advise on what to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Ice won't do any harm but it won't help either!. The virus or bug just has to work its way through her system!. She really needs to get into bed, drink lots of water and sleep as much as she is able!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
