Question: Is my ankle broken or sprained!?
I hurt my ankle about a week ago and it was swelling really bad the first couple of days and now it is really bruised all around the ankle bone!. it is sensitive to walk on and when i touch my ankle it hurts really bad!. there is a huge bruise about the size of a tennis ball on my ankle!.

At this point, to me it sounds like a pretty bad sprain!. You should stay off that foot and keep it elevated when possible!. Also you could think about crutches and wrapping it up with an ACE bandage!. It would be impossible to tell if it's broken without an x-ray!. If it continues to hurt a lot, or not improve, then you'll need to see a doctor!. I wish you the best of luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
This is a very common question we get in the ER nearly every day!. Unfortunately, the only answer we can give is to have an X-ray!. That truly is the only definitive way to determine if something is broken!. (Unless of course the broken bone is protruding from the skin!) I wish there was an easier answer!.

probably a bad sprain i dont think you could walk on it at all if it was a break you need to immobilize that ankle though wrap it with ace bandage and use crutches dont walk on it make sure the ace isnt too tight to impair the blood circulation wrap around the bottom of foot and around the ankle in a figure eight type of dressingWww@Answer-Health@Com
plz get an x-ray done it maybe a fracture and don't walk on the leg with the hurt ankle aands if its broken you may dislocate your bone even more and cause serious injury!Www@Answer-Health@Com
